Hawaii County is presenting its annual “Magic of the Season” holiday open house this week at the County Building in Hilo.

County departments and community organizations put together creative Christmas trees that express different themes throughout the building. The trees will be lit up for the public to view from 5:30 p.m to 8:30 p.m. through Friday.

The open house also includes live music and hula from local performers.

Today, Kilauea Kwintet will play beginning at 5:15 p.m., followed by Lava Cats and Vizion 20/20.

The Ol’ School Band will open the event on Thursday, followed by Lori Lei’s Hula Studio under kumu hula Lori Lei Katahara and the Hawaii County Band.

On Friday, Hilo Hongwanji Preschool will perform beginning at 5 p.m., followed by Darlene Ahuna, Johnny Ness, the Rock Ness Monsters and Na Lei O Kainoa under kumu hula Pumehana Silva.

Food trucks and activities for keiki also will be available throughout each evening.

The county will be collecting nonperishable food items for the Hawaii Island Food Basket.
